The Lake Escape Journey: Process of Rebuilding the Escape Rooms

Escape Room Building Before and After- Lake of the Ozarks
Before and After!

The Lake Escape Journey: Process of Rebuilding the Escape Rooms.

Moving an escape room business is no small feat—

it’s like solving a massive real-life puzzle, except the pieces are heavy, the clock is always ticking, and you need a team of contractors to put it all together.

Congrats to the new Attraction in Lake of the Ozarks
Closing day! The new building is ours!

At Lake Escape, we started our big move in January 2024, and over the course of four months, we completely rebuilt our experience from the ground up. Here’s a look behind the scenes at what it took to bring our new location to life.

Rebuilding the Escape Rooms from Scratch!!

When we moved, we didn’t just transport a few props and call it a day—we rebuilt every single escape room from scratch.

Every wall, puzzle, and hidden compartment had to be meticulously reassembled, redesigned, or improved.

A major part of our rebuild was running over 7,000 linear feet of wire to power our high-tech puzzles. Big thanks to Tyler and Jordan over at Lo-Volt Electronics!

That’s more than a mile of wiring, all carefully installed to ensure the seamless operation of locks, sensors, and special effects that make our rooms truly immersive.

Upgrades, Improvements, and a New Vision

The move wasn’t just about recreating what we had before—it was about making it better than ever.

Cute Kids and a Cute Shar Pei. Loving the help at the Escape Room.

✅ A Completely Remodeled Back Shop – We transformed our back shop into a warehouse to help us build, store, and prototype future escape room experiences. This allows us to create bigger and better rooms in the future.

✅ A Brand-New Roof – Because no one likes leaks—except in puzzles. Thanks to Midwest Roofing!

✅ An ADA-Compliant Bathroom – We made sure our new space is accessible for everyone, because escape room fun should have no barriers.

✅ A Fish Tank in the Lobby – Because nothing says “relax before your escape” like watching some fish swim peacefully before you lock yourself in a high-stakes puzzle challenge.
